Islanders Helping Islanders
We better understand our community and how island residents live and work. We offer products and services to help individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals. At Islanders Bank:
- Funds deposited locally stay in the Islands via loan products available to individuals, businesses and municipal entities
- We have over 50 staff members in San Juan County, living on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan Island
- We proudly donate over $50,000 each year to local organizations and charities
- Staff and Board members support local organizations by volunteering their time and efforts
Islanders Bank invites you and your business to join community banking
Each year members of the Islanders Bank team volunteer for the “Great Islands Clean-up.” This annual event occurs throughout San Juan County and is a fun way for community members to actively participate in keeping our island communities clean and beautiful. In 2015, 6,200 pounds of litter was collected from roadsides and beaches throughout San Juan County!
Our Friday Harbor Branch provides the opportunity for customers and community members to contribute canned or dried pet food to island families and the Animal Protection Society with the goal of keeping pets in their “furever” home. Islanders Bank is one of five local businesses who participate in this campaign. We believe in fostering a healthy & happy environment for all of our community members, big and small.
Each year, all Islanders Bank branches offer free document shredding for any county resident. Part of being a community bank is ensuring that our customers have local access to opportunities that protect their financial interests. Please contact us for the date and time of our next “Community Shred Event.”
For the past several years, Islanders Bank has actively participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event. Like us, many of our community members have been touched by cancer and its devastating effects. We relish the opportunity to raise money for cancer patients near and far and to play a small role in “Finding a Cure.”
Every year, Islanders Bank branches celebrate our customers by offering a place to meet with neighbors, friends and family while enjoying a little food and drink. We partner with local restaurants to provide food while we meet our customers and show our thanks for their business. Come see us this summer for a good time and our appreciation!
Much needed school supplies collected and donated.
“On behalf of the students and staff in the San Juan Island School District, San Juan Island School District would like to express our thanks for Islanders Bank’s annual Stuff-the-Bus School Supply Drive. It was a joy to work with Bank Officer Michele Morton to pack up the three overflowing bins of supplies, knowing how critical these tools and materials are to a student’s success in school. We are sure that our school families appreciate Islanders Bank’s dedication to our community. Thank you to all community members who donated supplies so we can better meet our mission of providing a world class education to each and every student.”
